The Rachel Maddow Show: 'Ninety-nine percent' would vote for Saddam

Your bumbling, and borderline mumbling, correspondent was a guest on the Rachel Maddow Show last night. Below is the clip, including KBR’s latest scam, Richard Engel’s Tweets, and Iraq’s (un)democratic future. I also tell the story of an Iraqi election official who told me that “99 percent” of Iraqis would vote for Saddam if he was on the ballot. True/Slant gets a shout out, as well as my book. (Order it here, and I’m forever in your debt.) Anyway, I’ll be in tavel limbo for the next 48 hours, but hope to give you updates on Sunday’s election in the days ahead.

Nice T/S mention! Brian Donovan is going to be totally jealous.

Safe travels, Michael. Look forward to your posts from Iraq.

I assume that the election official that you quoted is a Shiite since they seem to run most everything in government at present. Would they truly support Saddam given their persecutions under his rule? The Kurds? I can understand their desire for a Strong Man ruler, but Saddam?

Great job on the interview by the way.
