Palmer Phillips

Disturbing news last night from my brother, Jeff, who told me that his friend Captain Palmer Phillips was injured in a suicide attack in Baquba this past week. The attack, which according to the news report, killed three Iraqis and wounded eight others, also hit Palmer. I had the privilege to meet Captain Phillips in Iraq about two years or so ago when he was my brother’s commander in the 10th Mountain Brigade. I found him to be an all and all great guy, and an extremely dedicated individual. Palmer was in Iraq this time around working for the State Department, and thankfully, it looks like he’s recovering well. Obviously, there’s been quite a bit of violence in Iraq lately. But, for what it’s worth, my thoughts are with Palmer, his family, and the other victims of the blast.
